PEET Introduction
The Partnership for Enhancing Expertise in Taxonomy (PEET) is a National Science Foundation program focused on training taxonomists. Support is granted for studies of groups of organisms that are poorly known, or where taxonomic expertise is being lost. Our laboratory focuses on systematic studies of Chalcidoidea, a hyperdiverse group of small to minute wasps, most of which are parasitoids of other insects. Despite their importance for natural and biological control, taxonomic study of many groups of these wasps has neglected due to their small size and sometimes bewildering diversity of form and function. Consequently, they are ideally suited for support from the NSF PEET program. More information about the program, including how to apply for funding can be found at the NSF website here.
